Frank Peter Zimmermann

FRANK PETER ZIMMERMANN is one of the leading violinists of our time. He is performing at the major festivals and with the most important conductors and orchestras. He is “Artist in Residence” at the New York Philharmonic and at the Bamberg Symphony in the 2011/2012 season. FRANK PETER ZIMMERMANN was already on tour with the GUSTAV MAHLER JUGENDORCHESTER in 1996. Besides his engagements as soloist, FRANK PETER ZIMMERMANN is regarded a distinguished chamber music artist. FRANK PETER ZIMMERMANN is playing a Stradivarius from 1711 which once belonged to Fritz Kreisler.

Iréne Theorin

Swedish singer IRENE THEORIN makes her first appearance with the GUSTAV MAHLER JUGENDORCHESTER. The dramatic soprano received great acclaim as Brünnhilde in Bayreuth and Berlin. Her interpretation of Richard Strauss’ Elektra under Daniele Gatti, who will be the conductor of the GUSTAV MAHLER JUGENDORCHESTER summer tour 2012, has recently been released on DVD. With INGO METZMACHER and the GMJO, IRENE THEORIN will perform Wagner: The Death of Isolde from Tristan und Isolde as well Brünnhilde’s Final Scene (“Starke Scheite schichtet mir dort”) from Götterdämmerung.
