Dorran Alibaud

Born in 1989 in south of France, Dorran Alibaud played as principal cellist with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, NDR Radiophilharmonie, Les Siècles, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Trondheim Symphony Orchestra and has toured around the world with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Utopia Orchestra, Kammerorchester Basel, Staatskapelle Dresden, SWR Symphonieorchester, Orchestre Romantique et Revolutionnaire, Karajan Academy of the Berliner Philharmoniker and Orchestre National du Capitole Toulouse.

Invited by Claudio Abbado in 2012, Dorran plays in the Orchestra Mozart in Europa and recorded for Deutsche Gramophone amongst others.

Dorran has also collaborated with conductors such as Pierre Boulez, Bernard Haitink, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Herbert Blomstedt, Riccardo Chailly, Philippe Jordan, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Daniele Gatti, Antonio Pappano.

His love for the orchestra repertoire came when he was from 2010 until 2016 cellist and solo-cellist of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester.

After studying with Annie Cochet and Philippe Muller in France, Dorran joins in 2009 Jean-Guihen Queyras’s class in Stuttgart and follows him in 2011 in Freiburg-im-Breisgau. He finishes his studies working closely with Wolfgang Boettcher in Berlin. Dorran participated in masterclasses given by Frans Helmerson, Anner Bylsma, Miklós Perényi, Clemens Hagen, Gary Hoffman and the Artemis Quartett.

After being principal cellist at the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Dorran is currently program leader at Talent Norge, and the Norwegian elite program of conducting Dirigentløftet co-owned by Sparebankstiftelsen DNB.
