Maurizio Baglini

The pianist Maurizio Baglini boasts a brilliant career as soloist, chamber player, music teacher and artistic director.

Winner of the “World Music Piano Master” of Monte Carlo at the age of 24, he regularly performs at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the Teatro alla Scala of Milan, the Teatro San Carlo of Naples, the Salle Gaveau of Paris, the Kennedy Center of Washington and he is guest of prestigious festivals, including La Roque d’Anthéron, Yokohama Piano Festival, Australian Chamber Music Festival, “Benedetti Michelangeli” of Bergamo and Brescia. He works together with conductors such as Luciano Acocella, Marco Angius, John Axelrod, Antonello Allemandi, Umberto Benedetti Michelangeli, Giampaolo Bisanti, Marcello Bufalini, Massimiliano Caldi, Tito Ceccherini, Daniel Cohen, Howard Griffiths, Armin Jordan, Seikyo Kim, Emanuel Krivine, Karl Martin, Donato Renzetti, Corrado Rovaris, Ola Rudner, Daniele Rustioni and Maximiano Valdes.

Warmly approved by specialized critics, his record production for Decca/Universal includes works by Schumann (of whom he has been recording his complete piano works), Liszt, Brahms, Schubert, Domenico Scarlatti and Mussorgsky and the Live at Amiata Piano Festival series.

Since 2008 he has been promoting the project “Ode to joy”, which has brought him to play in the whole world the “Ninth Symphony” by Beethoven/Liszt, with more than fifty live performances in Rome, Milan, Cremona, Paris, Munich, Tel Aviv, Rio de Janeiro, Beirut. He also has on his account the project “Web Piano”, which combines live piano performances – such as of Carnaval by Schumann, Pictures at an Exhibition by Mussorgsky or Images by Debussy – with projections by the multimedia artist Giuseppe Andrea L’Abbate (La Roque d’Anthéron, Lisztomanias 2017, Châteauroux, Emilia Romagna Festival).
Since 2006 he has been playing with the cellist Silvia Chiesa, with whom he has performed in more than 250 concerts. He also plays chamber music with Kristóf Baráti, Enrico Bronzi, Gautier Capuçon, Renaud Capuçon, Cinzia Forte, Corrado Giuffredi, Andrea Griminelli, Gabriele Pieranunzi, Roberto Prosseda, Massimo Quarta, il Quartetto della Scala and others.

Founder and artistic director of the Amiata Piano Festival, he is the artistic consultant for dance and music of Teatro Comunale “Verdi” of Pordenone. In 2019 he was nominated Honorary Member of the Aiarp, the Italian Association of Piano Tuners and Repairers «for the high merits and important artistic contributions that his activity brought to the piano».

He plays a Fazioli grand piano.
