Henrik Wahlgren studied with Alf Nilsson at the University of Music in Stockholm from 1985 to 1990. From 1989 to 1993 he was a member of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester and was engaged from 1991 until 1993 by the Norrköping City Symphony Orchestra. He then studied with Günther Passin at the University of Music and Theatre Munich from 1993 to 1995. From 1994 to 1997 he was solo english horn of the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, before being invited as principal oboe by the Staatskapelle Dresden until 1999. Since 1999 he is principal oboe of the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig. Passionate chamber musician, he’s a member of the armonia ensemble. He has been regularly invited as tutor of the woodwinds of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester since 2014.
