DR BRIGITTE BIERLEIN 1949-2024

We are deeply saddened to hear of the sudden death of GMJO Board member Dr. BRIGITTE BIERLEIN, former Federal Chancellor of Austria and President of the Supreme Court, a distinguished member of Austrian society and an active music-lover.

Dr. BRIGITTE BIERLEIN gracefully accepted our invitation to join the Board of the GUSTAV MAHLER JUGENDORCHESTER in 2022, and her dedication to providing the very best of conditions for our talented young musicians on their way into the world‘s great orchestras was a driving force in her work with us.

We lose a charismatic personality and a greatly valued colleague. She will be sorely missed.
